Are you excited about the launch of the new iPhone 7? Will you be investing in the £599+ needed to buy one? Millions across the world will be and they will be delighted to discover a host of new features such as a new upgraded 12MP camera, longer battery life and the ability to be immersed in water for up to half an hour. Great if you’re a bit clumsy around water! What people may not be too happy about is the lack of a headphone jack but Apple have made these sort of changes before and eventually most people learn to love them. Below we take a look at some of the new features of the iPhone 7 in a little bit more depth as well as discussing just how much the iPhone 7 will cost.
New iPhone 7 features
The camera in the new iPhone 7 is reported to be a big improvement, having much better low light performance as well as taking photos that seem significantly sharper. The new 12MP sensor is 60% faster and 30% more efficient and the camera can zoom to 10X with both soft and optical zoom. For all you selfie lovers, the front facing camera has been upgraded from 5MP to 7MP.
Increased battery life
One of the big disadvantages of owning an iPhone is the amount of time it spends needing to be charged. This new model however will see the longest ever battery life of any iPhone to date and the iPhone 7 should last on average two hours longer than an iPhone 6s. Figures indicate that it should last 14 when using WiFi and 12 hours on 4G.
No more headphone jack!
Controversial this one! The iPhone 7 will no longer have a headphone jack and instead Apple are shipping the phone with a pair of Lightning EarPods which you connect through the charging port and wireless Apple EarPods. The Air Pods have a total listening time of 5 hours which means if you are a heavy user, it may be worth investing in another pair to use when your others are charging.
Dropping your iPhone in water can be an emotional experience but no longer thanks to the fact that the new iPhone is waterproof. The new iPHone 7 comes with and IPX67 rating which for the uninitiated means that it can safely stand immersion in up to one metre of water for up to half an hour.
How much does the iPhone 7 cost?
The new iPhone 7 will see a small increase in prices, as the last two years have seen the cheapest model costing £539 but this time there will be an increase to £599 for the 32GB model. Prices are as follows:
- £599 for 32GB
- £699 for 128GB
- £799 for 256GB
